🔥 EXTREME “Trick the Scholar” Round

Bible Quiz – Psalm 15

Instructions:

⚠️ This round is intentionally deceptive. Read every word carefully. Assume nothing. One wrong assumption = one wrong answer.

🧠 Question 1 – Dwelling vs. Abiding Trap (Psalm 15:1)

Which pairing is exactly correct according to Psalm 15:1?

A. Abide holy hill | Dwell tabernacle

B. Abide tabernacle | Dwell holy hill

C. Abide temple | Dwell mountain

D. Abide presence | Dwell sanctuary

Correct Answer: B

📜 Verse (Psalm 15:1, KJV):

“LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?”

🔍 Why this tricks scholars:

Many reverse the verbs because tabernacle sounds temporary and hill permanent—but the Psalm does the opposite.

🧠 Question 2 – Internal vs. External Righteousness (Psalm 15:2)

Which action is explicitly internal, not observable?

A. Walketh uprightly

B. Worketh righteousness

C. Speaketh the truth

D. Speaketh the truth in his heart

Correct Answer: D

📜 Verse (Psalm 15:2, KJV):

“He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.”

⚠️ Trap:

Many assume truth is verbal here—but David locates truth before speech, in the heart.

🧠 Question 3 – Triple Negation Precision (Psalm 15:3)

How many distinct sins of speech/social harm are prohibited in Psalm 15:3?

A. One

B. Two

C. Three

D. Four

Correct Answer: C

📜 Verse (Psalm 15:3, KJV):

“He that backbiteth not with his tongue,

nor doeth evil to his neighbour,

nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.”

🧠 Scholar Trap:

Backbiting ≠ reproach ≠ doing evil. They overlap but are legally and morally distinct.

🧠 Question 4 – Moral Alignment Test (Psalm 15:4)

According to Psalm 15:4, the righteous person:

A. Avoids vile people

B. Prays for vile people

C. Is indifferent to vile people

D. Despises vile conduct while honoring God-fearers

Correct Answer: D

📜 Verse (Psalm 15:4a, KJV):

“In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD.”

⚖️ Trap:

This verse is about moral judgment, not social kindness. Many soften it incorrectly.

🧠 Question 5 – Oath Theology Trap (Psalm 15:4)

What makes the oath in Psalm 15:4 righteous?

A. It benefits others

B. It is sworn publicly

C. It causes no harm

D. It is kept despite personal harm

Correct Answer: D

📜 Verse (Psalm 15:4b, KJV):

“He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.”

Extreme Insight:

Biblical integrity is measured after consequences change, not before.

🧠 Question 6 – Financial Ethics Snare (Psalm 15:5)

Which TWO practices are condemned together?

A. Lending money & receiving interest

B. Borrowing money & defaulting

C. Profiting from the poor & bribing the guilty

D. Charging usury & taking reward against the innocent

Correct Answer: D

📜 Verse (Psalm 15:5a, KJV):

“He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent.”

⚠️ Trap:

The Psalm condemns exploitation, not wealth itself.

🧠 Question 7 – Final Promise Misreading (Psalm 15:5)

What is NOT promised to the righteous person?

A. Security

B. Stability

C. Permanence

D. Absence of suffering

Correct Answer: D

📜 Verse (Psalm 15:5b, KJV):

“He that doeth these things shall never be moved.”

🧠 Extreme Insight:

“Never be moved” ≠ “never be troubled.” The Psalm promises spiritual immovability, not comfort.

🧠 Question 8 – Structural Trap (Whole Psalm)

Psalm 15 is best classified as:

A. A prayer for forgiveness

B. A wisdom proverb

C. A Torah-style entrance liturgy

D. A messianic prophecy

Correct Answer: C

📜 Contextual Insight:

Psalm 15 functions like a temple-entry examination, echoing holiness laws (cf. Exodus–Leviticus).

It exposes:

Integrity under pressure

Truth beneath speech

Ethics beyond ritual
